Lectros System

The Chemical Free, Instant Solution.

The Lectros Damp Proofing System - How It Works

The Lectros System introduces a very small electric current into the wall just above ground level through a series of titanium anodes inserted into the brickwork. Lectros is designed to repel the rising moisture molecules down the walls and harmlessly back into the ground. While this tiny positive charge is maintained, the protected walls will remain dry and totally free of damp.

Installation is neat and quick. A series of small holes are drilled in the outside masonry just above ground level, and tiny anodes inserted, linked by a special connecting wire which is 'pointed' into the wall. The finished result is virtually invisible and the disruption is minimal.

Key benefits of the Lectros system:

  • Successfully used around the world for over 30 years
  • Over 100,000 systems installed
  • Environmentally friendly, no chemicals or fumes
  • Permanently guards against the dangers of rising damp
  • Protects property of any age or structure
  • Simple to install with little disturbance to building structure
  • Immediately effective
  • Virtually indestructible (self healing)
  • Can be fitted with monitoring system for added peace of mind
  • 30 years manufacturers guarantee

Established in the U.K. in 1978, over 100,000 Lectros systems have been installed with proven success. Lectros has now gained an excellent reputation for effectively reversing Rising Damp in Australia since 1999 and is regarded as the easiest, cleanest and safest system to control Rising Damp and salt attack.

The Lectros Electro Osmotic Rising Damp System

The Lectros Electro Osmotic System is not a masonry capillary coating or blocker, but a proven active method of reversing the moisture's natural electric potential, which originates when water rises in a masonry wall.

Through a series of platinised titanium anodes installed in the masonry about a metre apart, a very small, regulated, and perfectly safe electrical charge is introduced into the wall just above ground level, (mA range), via a small but sophisticated power control unit. Immediately the surrounding moisture molecules become positively charged and the "free" moisture molecules are repelled from the positive anode and attracted to the negative cathode buried in the ground, (just as the "poles" of magnets repel or attract each other). As the moisture content reduces so does the ability to transfer the charge from the anode to the cathode, The resistance, (ohms), increases and the current, (milliamp range), reduces, and whilst the volts being discharged are restricted their value correspondingly increases.

This current repels the rising moisture molecules and dissolved salts down the walls and harmlessly back into the ground. As long as this tiny positive charge is maintained, your walls are protected from rising damp.

The small, but sophisticated, Lectros Power Control Unit constantly displays the electrical charge carried through the wall by the moisture and as the moisture content reduces the current will be seen to reduce and the unused voltage will be seen to increase. A permanent moisture meter!

Lectros is the best way to solve your Rising Damp Problem because:

The Lectros Electro Osmotic System is not a masonry capillary coating or blocker, but a proven active method of reversing the moisture's natural electric potential, which originates when water rises in a masonry wall.

The Lectros System is safe, simple and 100% effective!

The Lectros System dries below the installation height protecting masonry supported timber floor structures. Lectros repels moisture down to soil level below timber joists and bearers even when installed behind or above skirting boards, (where access below suspended timber floors is restricted). (An electro osmotic system is the only remedial damp course that will dry below the level of installation avoiding timber floor removal and replacement.)

The Lectros System desalinates masonry, solid plaster and render.

The Lectros System is clean, free of odours, perfectly safe, environmentally friendly, and, being fume and chemical-free, it cannot stain or discolour masonry or plaster.

The Lectros System minimises the need to remove sound plaster or render as most dissolved hygroscopic ground salts are carried back down into the soil - (residual surface salt deposits may be neutralised and removed with clear household vinegar).

The Lectros System treats common or party walls, (without damaging your neighbours side of the wall), solid walls up to 600mm thick, and both sides of cavity brickwork walls from one side.

The Lectros System is suitable for any type of masonry, clay brick, sandstone, limestone, rubble filled, aerated concrete, precast concrete – even mud brick dwellings!

The Lectros System although simple and quick to install, is the least contractor dependent remedial dampcourse system.

The Lectros System repels moisture down to soil level below timber joists and bearers even when installed behind or above skirting boards, (where access below suspended timber floors is restricted).

The Lectros System provides, observably, the fastest results as the damp is actively "driven" down out of the walls unlike other systems that rely solely on "passive" evaporation!

The Lectros Electro Osmotic Remedial Dampcourse System is the most cost-effective alternative to all other correctly installed methods.

How do I know
if I have Rising Damp?

Our products and services are specifically designed for the treatment of Rising Damp, so it is important to be certain that this is the cause of dampness before treatment begins.

Other types of dampness that affect buildings (e.g. condensation, lateral damp, penetrating damp) are treated in different ways - freecall us on 1300 793 359 for advice.

Diagnosis of dampness in buildings should be carried out by a specialist surveyor with a Moisture Meter, however, typical signs of Rising Damp include:

  • Signs of dampness limited to bottom 1m of ground-floor walls
  • Damp or decayed skirting boards
  • Salt deposits on the wall surface

If you would like to arrange for a specialist surveyor to visit your property, please visit the contact page or phone 1300 793 359.
